Acrobat Activity

Using SysInternals ProcMon utility I can see that Acrobat queries every directory on my system and the entire registry upon startup. I have a development system and have around 800 GB if disk storage available. Acrobat 'goes to sleep' for many MINUTES while it queries all this info. It is also 'creating files' during this process. What are those files and what are they being created for ? Acrobat is becoming unusable. What can I do to eliminate, or at least greatly diminish, this activity ?

Hi Mr. Jiggs,

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling? Are you using the latest update for Acrobat (8.1)? You can also try the Repair installation command. If these techniques aren't successful I would suggest that you open a case with technical support. For more information regarding technical suppport you can visit the following URL:

I finally tracked down the problem.
I had previously had ATM Deluxe installed on my system. I replaced it with FontAgent Pro {FAP}. It turns out that ATM didn't uninstall cleanly. I removed FAP, reinstalled ATM, removed ATM, did a manual confirmation that ALL of it was uninstalled, reinstalled FAP. Now everything is back to "normal". Thanks to all who tried to help!
