Acrobat Pro 8 Crashing / File size ballooning

I recently got a new computer with windows 7 and re-installed my Acrobat Pro 8. I did not experience any of these problems before.

Now when I work on files, the size balloons up to 3-4 times the size it should be (from 8mb to 42mb). I run the "reduce file size" feature and size goes back to what it should be. This is happening a lot, though. How can this error be fixed?

Other issue is now when I attempt to open two 9mb files at the same time to drag pages between, program crashes / bombs immediately with no errors. What should have taken 5 minutes is stretching into an hour or more.

I have checked for updates and there are no more available. I also tried to "repair acrobat installation".

version says acrobat professional 8.2.5

The first release of Acrobat to support Windows 7 was version 9.2, so this may be part of the problem that you're experiencing. Also, you're success in running Acrobat 8 in Windows 7 may vary depending on what version you're using - the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version.
Here is a link to a post in which other members have had some success running Acrobat 8 under Windows 7.
