How to import or convert Organizer Collections from Acrobat Pro 8 to Acrobat Pro 9...

I guess it should have been obvious...but after installing Acrobat 9 Pro...from version 8 Pro...all of my Organizer collections are not there at all. When looking under: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0......
There is a file called: Organizer90.

Is there ANY way to import or convert acrobat 8 Organizer collections to acrobat 9????

This should have been obvious when upgrading. I even tried copying the directory from 8 into the same subdirectory as 9...but no luck.

PLEASE..help....desparate...I have numerous collections....there has to be some solution....I can't start over again....

If someone knows...please let me know....I even tried a repair install to no avail.

Thanks!

Acrobat Pro 9.0, Windows

Try renaming this folder (with Acrobat closed)

C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0\organizer70 to ~organizer70

Thanks michaelejahn:

I tried that...no luck...

I even tried to copy the \organizer70 to the same subdirectory in Acrobat 9, and put the tilde...but still no luck. Just a blank...new organizer collection.

I even tried renaming the organizer90 (a single file...not a directory like \organizer70)...to organizer90.bak...then trying it...still no luck.

I have so many collection folders in organizer...I can't function without them....I even include them in a daily backup set so I don't lose them.

Any reason why A/9 didn't convert these into the seemingly single file that the organizer 9 appears to now use?

Any other suggestions...I'd appeciate it...

Thanks :)

Unfortunately things have changed with the Organizer in version 9 and it's not possible to import the settings from Acrobat 8.

Thanks for answering.... :)

This is unbelieveable.....it's like they just ignored folks who love the organizer.

That's really what makes it worth it to me.

Ok...

Is there anyway to copy the History file(s)...from Acrobat 8 to 9?

I figure....I clear the history in 8....then open up a collection folder's multiple files at one time....you know, to establish a new history of files for this day....on another PC....then copy that file to my PC...and put it in Acrobat 9's place. Hoping that Acrobat 9 will open the history files...which I can then save as a new collection in the Organizer...and rename the folder the same as I had it named in Acrobat 8.

If you can tell me how to copy the history file from 8 to 9...I'd appreciate it....

Hehe...sorry to sound so desperate...but I am... :)......I have a few hundred folders...and that's the only way...by copying the history and making new collection folders...that I can think of.

Thanks Again,

Rick...

I am shocked to hear that Acrobat Pro 9.0 has not capabilities to import older Organizer files. I cannot believe that Adobe would do this... Note that I have just found this out after upgrading from vers 8.0 to 9.0. I now find that I have no access to any of my organizer folders. Of course, vers 8.0 was deleted during the install of 9.0. The last file in the tread above is dated July 2008. Does anyone have any new information about this problem?

Unfortunately there is no new information on this. The Organizer was implemented differently in version 9. In version 8, there was an entire folder used to manage the function (i.e., C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0\organizer70). Whereas in version 9 there is only a file C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Organizer90. This is why it isn't possible to just transfer the favorites information from one version to the next.
