Adobe 8.0 vs Acrobat 4.0

I had Adobe Acrobat 4.0 loaded when I purchased my notebook. I recently loaded Adobe 8.0. I expected the 8.0 download to upgrade 4.0 but it left it there. (a) are they different in functionality?, (b) will they work together?, (c) do I leave them both on my Notebook?

Thanks,

John

When Version 8 was installing it should have checked your computer for previous versions of Acrobat and asked if you wanted to keep the older version.

I recommend you save any PDF files written in the older version and uninstall version 4.

You could leave the older version installed but it would be taking up unnecessary hard disk space.

Hi johnlsmith7,

The product installers have changed quite a bit since Acrobat 4.0, which is why you weren't prompted to uninstall. I also recommend you uninstall the older version of Acrobat. You can refer to the following chart for any interoperability questions between versions of Acrobat and the Reader at:
