Hi,

Acrobat is not intended to open nor to convert .docx files…
As a Mac user, Automator should be your best friend for batch converting 20000 DOCX to PDF, it's childish: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automator_(software)

You can print a .docx file to a PDF using the PDF Printer, or you can convert it using the PDFMaker plugin if you first save it as a .doc file.
