I ran across an issue whereby Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4 for Mac OSX will not open pdf files and in some cases not open files I just created with a scan. Double clicking on the file returns the error "The document [name] could not be opened. Adobe cannot open files in the Adobe PDF format."
 
When you go to the File menu and choose open then navigate to the file, Adobe Acrobat opens the file. Using a utility like Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner to "prebind" the files on your computer will work for awhile. Then the program reverts to this strange behavior.
 
I tried using the "get info" window then selecting Adobe Acrobat Pro to open the file and making it the default for all pdf files, but that does not work.
 
I have read others discuss this issue but do not know if there if a fix for it.

I have the same problem. What I notice is that after creating a PDF from a scanner, the application will not recognize any PDF you try to open by clicking on it. Closing Acrobat and then clicking on the file works. I don't know whether this is a problem with Acrobat or with the MAC OS (v 10.6.6).

Again, I am looking for a fix: it is really annoying.

I don't think this is a 10.6.6 issue since I've had it ever since I installed Acrobat 9.4. I have found that using the "prebinding" function of Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner helps the situation.

I converted a word file into pdf with Adobe PDf

I opened form in Adobe Acrobat 9.4.3 and created a fillable form.

I filled out the form and saved to computer.

I cannot open file in Adobe Acrobat 9.4.3.

I can open in Adobe Reader 10 but cannot save data.

How do I save completed form with data to hard drive?
