Hello,

After you install Adobe Reader X there is a screen that shows the recent files and two links to Adobe to send large files and create PDF files.

These two links are useless in my company because we already have a virtual PDF printer and a solution for sending large files.

How to get rid of this screen?

If this is not possible, I have solution prohibit access to sites Adobe on the proxy but I'd like a more elegant solution.

Thank you for your help.

Excuse my bad english, i'm french.

My Product Information:
Reader 10.0.1, Windows

While try67's correct that you can't disable the Welcome screen, you can remove the service advertisements and menus in Adobe Reader using registry settings and the Acrobat Customizer.

There are several, depending on what you want to remove and if you want your users to be able to undo the changes. The best thing is to download the Administrator's Information Manager application:

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83709.php

This includes details of every published registry and plist setting and what each one does. Look under "Workflow", "IPM" and "Feature Lockdown". For example to remove the service messages footer from the Welcome screen, set

HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\IPM\bShowMsgAtLaunch = 0

In Acrobat 10.1.1 (released September 13, 2011) you can disable the welcome screen on Windows by setting:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\(product name)\(version)\FeatureLockDown\bShowWelcomeScreen to 0

Download Acrobat 10.1.1 Update:

Actually, no you can't - slight SNAFU in the 10.1.1 RTM. The monkeys are relocating to their typewriters, an emergency order for twinkies and espresso has been placed.

The correct setting is as follows...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\(product name)\(version)\FeatureLockdown\cWelcomeScreen]
"bShowWelcomeScreen"=dword:00000000

So for Acrobat X it's...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\10.0\FeatureLockdown\cWelcomeScreen]
"bShowWelcomeScreen"=dword:00000000
