Another error message, I can view the attachments in older versions...

Hello,

Realtor here. People email me contracts and forms on a daily basis. I am running Vista, MS Office Ultimate and Newest Acrobat Update.

Before I upgraded to 8.0, (I think I had 7.0 before) I could open the attachments in my email inbox from clients and agents etc. Now that I have upgraded, an error message pops up:

"Adobe Reader could not open 'file name.email'
because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been
damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."

When I use my old lap-top with adobe 5.0 on it, I can see the attachments just fine. Before I upgraded, I could open the same email attachments just fine.

I have tried the following:

1. Re-installed the update and restarted my computer
2. Went to Start-Control Panel-Settings-Folder Options- and deselected "Hide known File Types in Windows" and selected "Show known File Types in Windows"

Any help would be appreciated, I have to run two computers now, I hate it!!!

By the way - all attachments mentioned above can be viewed on my iphone. I know it's not the attachments, it's the update which is the problem!

My Product Information:
Reader 8.1.2, Windows

I have the same Problem. For some reason when I try to open attachments (mostly Jpgs) in outlook,
Adobe pop uptelling this is not a pdf file. I can't find where to tell outlook to not use adobe to open attachments that are not pdf. I have dumped adobe out, then attachments open fine, but when I reload adobe back to same problem.

I didn't have this till about adobe 7 But adobe 8 and 9 have this issues

FYI My own soluton was to install an older version of an open source reader (Foxit 2.2) on my W98SE and take the extra steps necessary to view and print.
