Any chance of getting Reader plug-in to work on Safari again?

This issue has been affecting our company since Safari 5.1/Lion were released. We are an HR/payroll company and in our new hire process we have lots of PDF's of government forms that we ask new employees to fill out and they need to post electronically back to our server. We haven't had any option for Mac users running current updates in a while.

This advisory says Adobe hopes to have a workaround by the end of the year. I hope that is true.

Were there issues preventing you and your users submitting the data from within Acrobat/Reader? Or, in other words, were/are there reasons why you require the user to fill the forms within the browser?

In fact, I personally prefer to download a form to my local machine and then fill it out and submit from Acrobat/Reader.

There are a few reasons we didn't want to launch Acrobat. First, many of our users aren't very technical (some may be getting their very first email address for the purpose of electronic onboarding) and keeping everything in one browser window just seemed easier to us. Second, many of the machines that are used in this process are shared at the company, so you would have to worry about unique filenames and that sort of thing. (I don't think any of the form data would be stored locally, but if I'm wrong that would be another concern.)
