I recently upgraded to ver. 8.1. When I open an AOL e-mail with a pdf attachment,I download it. On the AOL window to choose "Open", "Find", "Close" I click on "Open". The response is cannot find file and when I try to close the window it is locked up. I can still get to AOL Downloads, find the file, and open it. To solve them problem, I removed ver. 8.1 and went back to ver. 7.0.9. Now everything works fine. Anytime I get the message to upgrade to 8.1 I will ignore.
Sounds like this might be a problem with co-exisiting versions of Reader. At any point did you have two version of Acrobat installed? If so, this might have created browser problems. Did you try manually repairing the version 8 installation by going to Help > Repair Acrobat Installation from Adobe Reader 8?Keep up posted,
