Backgrounds Not Saved

I have been trying to save background settings in Acrobat 8.2.2 on a Mac running OS 10.6.4.

I have some saved backgrounds that work (they were created a while back most likely on a previous OS version and possibly even in Acrobat 7--I don't remember if the settings transfer).

I am trying to save a new background setting to include a file as the background. I set up the settings in the "add background" dialog and then save the setting and give it a name. However, when I try to use that setting again it does not change any of the settings to their desired values (I'm just trying to add a PDF file as a letterhead). If I close and open Acrobat the setting name is still there but it does not change any of the settings.

I'm actually having this trouble on several computers. I wonder if the file where Acrobat saves these settings is corrupted or inaccessible due to permissions issues.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

As soon as I wrote the post I figured out the answer. The saved file (i.e. the file you want to include as a background) is not recalled from a saved setting if the filename includes an ampersand (&). If anyone knows what other characters in file names give problems please let us know here.
