Is there any way of converting 8.0 format pdf files to 6.0 format files?

Yes, either use "Reduce File Size" from the "File" menu bar option in Standard or Professional, or the "PDF Optimizer" from the "Advance" menu bar option in Professional. And set the compatibility to Acrobat 6.0 or PDF Version 1.5.
