I am so unbelievably frustrated with this new software. I have wasted over an hour searching for help on a simple question of how to add or create a bookmark on a document, to no avail. Please help.
I have a 300 pg document that I continually created bookmarks in to quickly access particular pages. However, Adobe 8 was forced upon me and now I can't add bookmarks.

My Product Information:
Reader 8, Windows

New software is always downright frustrating until we become familiar with it. Makes you so mad you want to scream!

You are fortunate though, becasue, in Acrobat, creating bookmarks is easy and fairly straitforward (of course you need Acrobat and not Adobe Reader to create bookmarks).

Go to the page view you want. For example Page 25 and set the view you want for the bookmark destination... say a Fit Page view where the entire page is shown in the Acrobat window. When you have the view set, press Control + B (Win) or Command + B (Mac). The Bookmark panel on the left side of the Acrobat window opens and a new bookmark is created with the word Untitled appearing as the name. The text is highlighted, so just type the name you want to use for the bookmark. Acrobat captures the current view when you create the bookmark, therefore, in this case the bookmark links to page 25 and the entire page is shown in the Acrobat window. Just go to the next page you want to bookmark, press Ctrl/Command + B, type a name and more to the next page, and so on.

If you have text appearing for a title, say something like Chapter 2 that resides on page 20, go to that page, set the view and select the text "Chapter 2" with the Select Text tool. When the text is selected, press Ctrl/Command + B and the bookmark is created and named with the selected text (i.e. Chapter 2).

Beginning the last week in January, I'm posting articles weekly on PDF Interactivity. Look for my second week's tip on Managing Bookmarks.

Lastly, don't get discouraged. You have a great product to work with and you'll be up to speed in no time. Post additional questions as they come up. No question is too elementary. We're here to help you.

Best wishes,
