Browser plug-in for streaming PDF's

Hello - I am developing a plug-in for Apachee 2.2.x which authorize a request for pdf document down load. The sequence is simple POST from the browser followed by lots of GET from the adobe browser plug-in. We authorize the GETs by using a session cookie. If any GET fails auth - the question is how do I abort and notify the adobe plug-in to return control to the browser so that we can display a regular error page. Are there any special packets that need to be sent to the plug-in?

Thanks.
