Bug? Several pdfs opening at once

I just downloaded some security update yesterday (automatically sought out by my Mac OSX). When I went to a pdf on a web site, up popped -- opening one at a time -- 26 recently viewed pdf files on my computer. Today I double-clicked on a pdf attachment sent to me via e-mail and the same thing happened. Any ideas on a solution?

This is obviously unexpected behavior. The trouble is tracking down the problem. If the update was an Apple update to the OS, then I am not sure how you can deal with it. In a case like this, I'd punt and reinstall Acrobat.

I am a long-time Acrobat user, an employee of Adobe Systems, and Maine native. I have created training videos for Total Training, consulted with people to help them better use Acrobat, and developed new business for Adobe as a Business Development Manager

Thanks. It hasn't happened recently but did happen a couple of times after posting this message. Problem seems to be confined to some pdf downloads off the internet; nothing from pdfs built on site or attached to e-mails. Reinstalling probably is the way to go.
