Can Acrobat merge stuff via a command line?

Greetings,

I would like to know if there is a way to automatically merge PDF documents so that a script (vbscript, not AutoIT) can be relied upon to merge documents.
 
Ideally, a command line approach or hot folder is what I am after.

Can't be done - Acrobat does not support commandline variables other than to open an existing PDF file, and while Distiller supports watched folders, it does not permit merging of files.

The lack of commandline control is intentional, to prevent Acrobat from being used in an automated server deployment.

Acrobat can't do it, but an external application can. For example, I created this tool to do just that:
