Hello,
Can I link two individual pdfs so that downloading one will automatically download the other?
The files are accessed from an FTP site, not a web site.
I'm trying to find a solution for this problem:
I have multiple CAD drawings converted to PDF. Each CAD drawing is the floor of a building, so multi-storied building = multiple PDFs. Each building has one PDF which describes the work being done in the building. This work decription PDF is updated regularly and contains references to each of the CAD pdfs.
Sometimes a contractor will log in to the FTP site to view a CAD pdf so I've created a link in each CAD pdf to open the buildings work description pdf when clicked.
What I would like to do is link the one work description pdf to each CAD pdf so that when a CAD pdf is downloaded the work description goes with it. We've had a problem with people downloading the CAD pdf for a floor but forgeting to download the building work description pdf.
I know an option would be to insert the work description pdf into each CAD pdf to make a 2 page file, but the work description is updated regularly, that would mean updating multiple copies of the same work description for each CAD pdf. Alot of work for a 30 story building.
Hope I described this clearly, thanks in advance for any help...

What version of Acrobat are you using? If 8 Pro you could consider creating a PDF Package containing all the files for each floor and the work description. When you update the work description you would simply replace it in the Package with the new version. All files would be labeled in a panel on the left so the user could pick the floor of interest from the list, sort of like a TOC.
In Acrobat 9 you have a similar option using PDF Portfolios ( the new iteration for packaging PDFs).
Tutorials on both options can be found in the Learning Center here.
Hope this helps,
