When I open a PDF document it is off to the left side of the screen, i.e., not centeered on the screen. I have tried just about every combination in the preferences without any success. It was fine until I upgraded to Acrobat pro 8.1.6.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Macintosh

when you said "preferences" - was that a typo ? Did you not mean "Properties" ?

As in - Acrobat, under the file menu, select Properties (it might say "Document Properties on your version), then when the Document Properties dialog box appears, go to the Initial View tab, and under the Window options tool, click on "Center window on screen"

Or, are you thinking / wishing / hoping / dreaming that somehow, you should be able to overide such settings, and control the PDF files "open" behavior using some setting in your installed instance of Adobe Acrobat ?

hint - rhymes with 'so'

Firt of all thanks for your quick response.

Yes, I meant preferences, under the Acrobat Menu. Now let me explain.

1. I have Acrobat 8.1.6 Pro on an iMac and when I open any PDF document it is centered without using the Document Properties. And it has been this way since the early versions of Acrobat.

2. I also have have Acrobat 8.1.6 Pro on a Mac Laptop PowerPC. It also would always center any PDF that I opened, i.e., until I upgraded to 8.1.6.

3. I tired using the same Preference setting on the iMac on the laptop so a PDF document would be centered, but wonopolizations

4. In spite of the above I tried your recommendation but the documents refuse to center on the screen.

5. I’m wondering if I have a corrupted Acrobat 8.1.6 Pro.

It is a puzzlement.

I just reinstalled Acrobat 8 Pro to 8.1.6 and it's operating as expected.
