Cannot search documents

Hi,
I'm having issues in that any document I open in acrobat I cannot search. I enter the word I would like to find in the Find box, but the result are always that nothing is found. Any ideas? Does the creator of the pdf need to make it searchable when creating it?

Was this document scanned? If so, you have to make sure that it contains "real" text. Can you select a single word or letter with the text select tool? If not, you will have to OCR it.
If you can select text, you might still need to tag the document, in case it was originally scanned and OCRed.
