Can't add footer into PDF

I am wanting to add page numbers to a PDF within the footer. When I go to the Document menu, Header & Footer, Add... nothing happens. No error or anything, it's just like I never gave the command.

This is for an 80 page report that I actually did not make myself. We get the report from another source, and I don't know if the file is corrupt or what. There isn't any security on the PDF either. I've been able to add footers to lots of other PDFs; I'm not sure why this one is a no go.

Thanks!

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.0, Windows

Hi silversmith,

What program created the PDF? Go to Document Properties and the program that created it should be listed there.

Is the Add Header or Footer menu item greyed out? If it is greyed out it may be that the report has been Reader Enabled for Commenting, or it could be that there are layers on the document that are blocking that action.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri

I just remembered that this happened a few months ago, and what we did to fix it was reprint the file to PDF (convert it to PDF again). I just did this and the header & footers work now! Thanks for your fast response anyways.
