can't replace pages with word documents anymore since 9.4.0

hi,
 
i have an issue with acrobat since the 9.4.0 update.
 
i have often existing pdf document where i need to replace singe pages with docx (word 2010) documents. since 9.4.0 acrobat always opens word first then asks me to save that file as a separate pdf file first. then closes word and shows "please wait while reading adobe pdf". then it just hangs and doesn't do anything.
 
my workaround at the moment is to save my docx file as a pdf file first. then go the document/replace and then replace the page with the newly created pdf file.
 
this costs a lot of time. does anyone have a fix for that?
 
i have acrobat 9.4.0 in windows 7 x64 with office 2010 x64

now i also noticed that it is overwriting the last used file without warning if i just right click a file -> convert to pdf...wtf?
