Acrobat 7.0 Proffessional's OCR seems to capture only words not numbers - even for a document scanned at 600dpi. What can i do to get the numbers I need from that PDF?

The OCR capability captures both words and numbers. Are you using the Searchable Image option? This ensures that text and numbers are searchable and selectable. This option keeps the original image, deskews it as needed, and places an invisible text layer over it.
