Certain Characters Smear into Thick Boldface When Adding page Numbers & When Printing

Here's the history

(1) Created an acrobat 7 pdf from a finale file (mus) on my OTHER MAC, which is a 1 Ghz power pc G4 laptop w/10.2.8. The conversion went great with no hitches.

(2) I printed a test page, and the output was perfect

(3) When i went to add visible page numbers using the header/footer option, which are intended to be visualized on the page, certain text and music notation font went into thick boldface, while other fonts did not.

(4) I figured that this possibly was just a screen problem, so I printed a page, but the output resulted in a really exagerrated boldface which was not present in step (2) above
