We are able to make comments in existing PDF's but cannot change the font from Courier or the size of the text.

We need to be able to have one of our production departments place data within a PDF for a customer proof.
The font, size & placement are critical.

Is there any way to do this in 8 Standard?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 8.0, Windows

Comments are not rich in text ability, but one can prepare the text in a wp and then cut and paste the text and formatting into the comment box.

I assume that the format of the cut n paste is fixed but can be moved?

Does the format retain its characteristics and remain in the same place once the PDF is saved?

It will if your client has the same font and that font has the same system as on your system. If not they may see a substituted font or nothing.

And that is why Adobe uses the generic Ariel font for comments.

Actually ours shows comments in Courier but that's moot

I will pass this on to the department and see how it works for them.
Thanks!

We were unable to cut & paste from MS Word into the PDF and retain the desired font, color & size, even when using the standard MS fonts. We wound up converting the PDF to a jpg and inserting the text and other items from a graphics editor that we had.

Thanks for your help.

It amazes me that there is no direct information from Adobe regarding this.
Even the product description and comparison charts do not make it clear that Acrobat Standard is so incredibly limited in inserting text.
It's also confusing that the Properties options for comments seem to very clearly provide for just the options we needed, but just don't do anything.
Not one of Adobe's finer moments.
We will be looking at alternative software for working with PDF's.
