Copying PDF content and getting garbage

I have a PDF file created with InDesign. I need to copy and paste some content which I can do without problems.

The problem comes here: I open the PDF with Acrobat 6 and save it to a postscript file using "File + Save As" menu. After this I distill the PS file to get a second PDF file. It looks and prints fin, but when I try to copy some content and paste it to a text editor, all I get is garbage characters.

What is the problem with the second PDF? Thanks in advance.

why are you redistilling the file? That's a no, no in Acrobat in almost all circumstances and it's not surprising you're getting garbage. If you have to repurpose the document, use the PDF Optimizer.
