I have had several now who get an error message "Damaged Unable to Open" when opening my pdf created documents that I have sent or placed on to a website. I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to create these. I have gone to the website or the orginal file and can open these without any error message. Have other encountered this? Is this a problem because some people do not have the most advanced version Adobe Acrobat Reader?
a) you might use the PDFOptimizer function in Acrobat 9 to make your document PDF 1.3 or 1.4-compatible (1.3 would be Acrobat 4-level; 1.4 Acrobat 5-level).
b) how did you upload the document to the server? Make sure that, if you are using some kind of FTP, that the transfer is "binary", and not "text" or "automatic".
c) check (or have checked) the MIME type for .pdf
