Okay, I am a contractor hired to build a house. I have been sent a 32 Chapter, 500 page pdf Specification Document of which I need to forward individual chapters to 50 people. I do not want everyone/ anyone to have access to the full document. I do not want to print and scan the entire document. All chapters begin and end with a full page.

How can I break this document up as described above. I only have freeware so far and do not know which if any additional applications I need to purchase and/ or download.

Any help?

My Product Information:
Reader 9.2, Macintosh

Extract page ranges associated with the chapters.
I suspect that you may have to purchase software.
Cute PDF (not the free application) may provide this.
Or perhaps Open Office (?).

Certainly Acrobat can perform this task.
My thought (fwiw) is that if, in the course of business, you deal with PDF alot
then the prudent, business approach is to obtain (& maintain updated) Acrobat Professional.Walk through the file.
Write down the start-stop pages (PDF page value) for each chapter.
Use Document > Extract Pages.
In the Extract Pages dialog, enter the "From" - "To" page range.
OK.
Save the extracted pages.
Apply PDF security as appropriate.

In Adobe Reader, I went to Document>, but no Extract Pages option. I have the most current version of Reader. It seems I need more than Reader. Tried doing this using Acrobat.com but a. There is a 5 file limit and b. it won't convert a PDF to PDF.Could it be that to have the simple ability to breakdown a document into its respective chapters, I need to spend $299? Obviously I get MORE than that for $299, but all I want/ need is this. Yes, in the future, when it's MY company, I'll spend the $$, but now, this is not an option. Am I stuck?

The Adobe Reader only views and prints content so you will need Acrobat Std or Pro. to perform this function. There is a 30-day trial download that you can use of Acrobat 9 Pro. to check out the functionality.
