Creating Tool Shortcuts?

Is there a way to create tool shortcuts if the tool doesn't already have a shortcut assigned? What I am looking to do is map both line tools to separate buttons on my Wacom tablet. If I can assign them a keyboard shortcut, my problem would be solved. If I can't, I believe I will be hating life shortly!

Thanks for any assistance or suggestions you can offer.

if you have not done so, place a check at 'use single key accelerators ..." at preferences [ctrl+k] > general > basic tools

I did that but there still isn't a keyboard shortcut that shows up for the line tools. I can't find one listed in documentation, either.

Any other approaches?
