Hi, Something to try. Not elegant. But, PDF is not an "editing" format.
The TouchUp Object Tool will let you select the object only; no 'parts'. (Tools > Advanced Editing > TouchUp Object Tool)If you have a photo editing program installed, the selection of an image with the TouchUp Object tool followed by right click for the context menu and selection of "Edit Image" can let you edit an image object. During this editing you could segment the image and save the segments to new files. To enable this: Go into Preferences (Edit > Preferences). Select the "TouchUp" catagory. Use the Choose Image Editor to browse to and select the application.
With the TouchUp Object tool selected and in place over (but no "click' into) the PDF page with the scanned image, You can right click for the context menu and select "Place Image". Browse to the location of the desired image/images. The default "Files of type" is JPEG so you may have to use the drop-down menu to select the appropriate file extension. With the fiile selected, click the Open button. The image is place in the center of the PDF page. Put mouse cursor focus into it. Click-drag to position.
