Cut (or copy) Selected Area And Move (or copy) To Another Page?

PDF files are not meant to be edited in such a way. You should edit the original file and then re-create the PDF.

The "original file" is a pdf. That is the only format I have it in.

I have two pdf pages with (about a half page each) of information on them that I would like to combine into one single page.

I guess Acrobat can't do this. I'll have to look into a third party pdf editor.

Did you type all of the information using the Typewriter tool into the PDF?
If not, my guess is the PDF was created from another file (which you don't have access to, it seems). That's probably how 99% of PDF files are created.
However, you might be able to do it if you extract the second page as a new PDF and then use the watermark tool to add it a a watermark onto the first page. Not the ideal way of doing things, but it might work.

Thank you for your help try67. Yes, you are correct. I received only the pdf already in that format and don't have the "original" in any other format.

The watermark idea is an interesting and creative solution! But I think I found an easier way using another pdf program. I found a few other pdf programs that allow you to select parts of a page and cut or copy them to other pages. I think that is a pretty basic editing operation, and considering they are available for $20 or $30, I have to say that I am often disappointed at all the things Acrobat cannot do for multiples of the price of some of the competitors.

I like Acrobat, but with all the development resources Adobe has and the top-of-the-line pricing it costs, I can never understand why a $20 competitor can deliver some things which seem fairly basic to me that Acrobat cannot. For that kind of money I expect it to have it all.

I tried copying text that had hypertext. It copied fine but I couldn't paste in an openoffice spreadsheet. Does acrobat support openoffice?

I think the question there is whether or not it is getting onto and off of your clipboard properly rather than about whether or not Acrobat supports OpenOffice.

The TouchUp Object tool supports shuffling PDF page content from one page to the other.
Thing is, doing this (to text in particular) - by any application that can "work" PDF will often trash the PDF syntax (do post-shuffle checks via Preflights). If you don't need to have a "full load" capacity PDF post-shuffle then all is well.

That's a good point. Just because a program can edit the document doesn't mean it will adhere to the proper standard. In my case, I am not doing anything fancy with the resulting pdf such as press work, so that isn't all that critical. Other people who I work with use the Acrobat for that kind of thing. For me it is needed primarily for my own in-house use and it is important for me to be able to do this kind of action.

I did try to do this with "Edit Object" tool which I think is the Acrobat X version of the "TouchUp Object" tool. But I was unable to get it to work. I don't use that tool much so maybe I don't know the right way to do it.

If I select the tool and then select the area containing the object, it selects each part of the object and its included text. But then what? I can't "cut" because it "cut" isn't available. I can "copy," but then paste isn't available, and I can't drag it because there is no drag handle on it. So what can I do with that object other than delete it maybe?

In this case the object is a form (not an Acrobat "form," but a copy of another type of form). It has some boxes and some text and numbers in it.

In the other program I used I simply selected the area of the form and could cut or copy it, then paste the whole selected area on another page. It worked very easily and cleanly. I couldn't say if the standard was upheld, but it opens fine in Acrobat and appears to be fine ... (which is good enough for my use although I understand it may not be good enough for press work).

Be sure to activate the "Edit Object" (or "TouchUp Object") tool in the target PDF **before** the paste.
