Deletion of installed *.txt files?

I'm using Acrobat Pro, ver 8.1.2 on Win XP Pro and attempting to reclaim space on my hard drive. Search found 450 *.txt files (nearly 10Mb) in various C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0 sub-directories (e.g., Acrobat, Designer 8.0, Resource, Setup Files) as well as in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\TypeSpt\Unicode\Mappings\ (e.g., Adobe, Mac, win). Can anyone please advise if any or all of these files are required for operation of the program or whether they can be deleted? It would seem obvious the "Mac" files could disappear for me since my machine is Win, but I don't know about the others. Many thanks. ~Allan

My Product Information:

JB - I'm not sure if your "Seriously?" means that (1) you're incredulous that Acrobat actually does place 450 *.txt files on the hard drive, or that (2) possibly you're being facetious, in a slightly pejorative way, thinking I'm silly for even asking. (I say this with absolutely no offence intended and assume the former.) But yes, seriously. I have removed over a thousand *.txt files - OK, many of them quite small - from a variety of applications. But, e.g,. I’m a mountain climber and use TOPO!. Nat’l Geographic tech support advised their *.txt files were essential; OK, fine. So frankly my expectation is that all of Acrobat’s are essential and that I shouldn't delete any.

I’ve very selectively utilized a good number of the suggestions from Bold-Fortune (http://www.bold-fortune.com, click on “Forums”), have run CCleaner in both it's Cleaner and Registry modes, as well as another cleaning/registry program, and then tidied it all up with JKDefrag. In this process I’ve reclaimed over 7Gb of hard disk space and my system runs better (quieter and now blisteringly fast) than it did when new.

BTW, very interesting company you work for.
