I have the opposite problem of this person: http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/viewtopic.php?pid=67577

We use an application that creates bookmarks in every PDF it creates, but for my own uses, it's very annoying to have to minimize the bookmarks tab to get an uncluttered workspace.

I don't want to delete the bookmarks from the documents.
I don't want to disable the bookmarks tab entirely from Acrobat.

I just want to make my installation of Acrobat (Acrobat 8 Standard, 8.1.3) not expand the bookmarks tab when opening the document, regardless of the intent or desire of the PDF's author.

Is there a way to do this? I couldn't find one either on the internet, or in the help file, or settings.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 8.1.3, Windows

Hi Delusion,

No- your first view is "author's choice" and there are no settings in Acrobat to override that until you first open it in author's choice view and change it to what you prefer (given the author has not secured it so that you can't make changes that is).

Hope this helps,
