I have acrobat 7 standard installed on my laptop and have the serial number, but no installation discs. How can I download ver 7 to a new desktop?

Acrobat 7 support ended in 2009, so the installation media can no longer be purchased or downloaded from the Adobe website. In addition, the updates won't be available to re-patch the installed version to the current state. We cannot condone any form of filesharing even if you have a valid serial number, but realistically finding someone with downloaded copies is the only option if you cannot upgrade to the latest version.

Please excuse my error above the version number. I purchased a new Sony Vaio laptop and received it yesterday. It came with a preinstalled Adobe bundle, but no Adobe installation discs. I updated the installed Acrobat version to 9.4.1., not version 7.1.4. I want to install this on my main desktop computer but can't seem find out how to download it to that computer. Any help will be appreciated.

FWIW, updates to Acrobat all the way back to version 4 are available for download from Adobe's web site.

For the OP, you might want to look around on the hard drive to see if the installation files are hiding somewhere.

George, Thanks for the reply. I found on my Sony Vaio win 7 64 bit laptop computer (3 days old)under C:\program files (x86)\Adode\Acrobat 9.0\Setup Files\(AC76BA86-1033-0000-BA7E-00000000004)\
This subdirectory includes the following files: Abcpy.ini; AcroStan.msi; Data1.cab; Enterprise.mnt; Setup.exe; setup.ini; WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-i86.exe. Setup.exe offers to install acrobat 7 standard onto the same computer.

After coping the complete \Acrobat 9\ subdirectory to my win 7 64 bit desktop computer desktop, when Setup.exe is double clicked in Run as Administrator mode, UAC asks for permission to run, yes is selected after which no further action occurs. (the hard drive run for possibly 1 second).

When WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-i86.exe is double clicked the following message is displayed: not enough storage is available to proceed.

I also tried runing acrobatupd941_all_incr.msp, with the message "the program to be updated is missing. Any ideas about how I can download Acrobat 9 standard to my desktop so that I can use my Adobe acobat 7 standard serial number to use the program, will be greatly appreciated.

Since this is an OEM version of Acrobat, you should contact the company where you purchased the Sony Vaio laptop.

Thanks for the reply. A Sony technician tried to help me re-transfer the installer to my desktop computer with the same results, it wouldn't install on the desktop. He concluded that Sony must have added something in the registry of the Sony laptop that allowed the installer to install, but couldn't figure out how to do the same on the desktop? Adobe agrees that I have the right to use the program on both computers. Their solution is to upgrade to Acrobat X Professional, since they don't offer a trial on Acrobat X standard to be downloaded to the desktop.

Is that the case with all OEM versions or just Sony? I've got a Lenovo with the same issue.
