Hi, I'm working on updating our MSDS's, and have been scanning all of our old MSDS's into the computer, as well as saving the most recent copies from the manufacturers' websites. I have information in the name of the document such as the actual name of the document (ex: Acetone), the manufacturer (Ex: Fisher), date of the MSDS, the catalog number of the chemical, etc. I would like to have all of this information in separate colums, so that if someone needs to look through everything, say they're looking for a chemical from a certain year, or a certain manufacturer, they can just click the column they want and sort the documents that way. I have not been able to figure out how to do this, if it's even possible. I don't have Adobe Reader Pro, I have Adobe Reader X. If you can help, it would be GREATLY appreciated. I've been researching this for over a month now, and have come up empty handed. I hope that I've done a good job of explaining this. If you have questions, please ask me, and I hope somebody can help! Thank you!!

While Acrobat supports minor PDF page content "tweaks" with the TouchUp Text tool ("Edit Document Text" in Acrobat X) Adobe Reader does not.
.
Regardless, even with Acrobat, you'll not be able to perform edits to format and layout such as you desire within a PDF file.
As described in ISO 32000-1 that's just not what PDF is about.

.
Certainly you could master content to reflect the information realignment mentioned. Perhaps in a database, a spreadsheet, or a table in a word processor application. The file could be made available or an output PDF generated which is shared.
.

Be well...
