Email info from order form

I created order form with approx. 45 item fields. I would like to give this order form (on CD) to people we do business with to make their purchase simplified. They will use the Reader or Acrobat app.

I don't have anything like LiveCycle. I'm on a Mac with the Acrobat Pro 9. I have tried a few times but the results would, either, do nothing or give me a "This operation cannot be completed".

I know it can be done. I've done it in the past with Acrobat 3 or 4. I just can't get it to work.

Can anyone help. Thanks

Well, you don't need LiveCycle Designer to create such a form.

However, it is hard to say why it does not work, as we don't know what exactly you are doing…

You also have to take into consideration security when deciding on a method of transmission with things like order forms, which often will contain credit card numbers and other sensitive information. Email is generally not a secure method of transmission. I wouldn't email such a form.

An alternative method, and one that is significantly more reliable, is to set up the form to submit to a web site using SSL (HTTPS). Another benefit to this approach is you can have the form submit just the form data, which doesn't require usage rights, so you won't have to be concerned with running up again the limitations imposed by the Acrobat License Agreement. For Reader-enabled forms, you can use data from no more than 500 instances of a form (including hard copies) that has been Reader-enabled with Acrobat if you distribute the form to more than 500 recipients.

Acrobat 8 is the first version than can apply the relevant usage rights that allow Reader to save a filled-in form.

Thank you guys for the ideas and input regarding my order form. This should be a very simple task. There's approx. 45 fields. People will use the Acrobat Reader. I know this for a fact. I give it to all my customers with the form on CD. So, that we know. There's no concern for credit card info because my customers all have accounts established. I simply need to receive the amounts and items they select on the form and wish to order.

What I'd like to accomplish is this - to create an Email Now button that would send me the field(s) information via email. Is there a script that would allow me to list the fields I want to include in the email? Field#1, Field#2, Field#3 and so on. And, also to address the email to me including Subject line?

I believe if the customer doesn't have the Client emailer (such as Outlook, etc), only an internet email account then they would have to send the form manually. Is that correct?

Set up a button to use a Mouse Up action set to "Submit a form". Select a format type of FDF and you can select which fields to include. For the URL, set it to: mailto:you [at] example [dot] comMake sure "mailto:" is lower case and do not include any spaces. Acrobat will prompt the user to email with their email client (Desktop Email Application) or save the FDF locally to manually attach to an email (Internet Email). For the first case, the FDF file will automatically get attached to the email.
