When I open Adobe Acrobat 8 professional, it opens up the 'Getting Started' menu box, then about 5 seconds later another box pops up and says, "Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You much launch at least one another suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional."

After this pops up, my Acrobat 'getting started' box or documents opened, freeze up and my only option is hit 'ok' and then everything closes.

*Its says to have Photoshop open before I launch Adobe Acrobat Professional. Yes - I have done this - and have tried other variables. And it still doesn't work.

SOS. Why is this happening? and how do I fix it??

Huge thanks to anyone who can give some advice.

If you've installed Acrobat as part of a Creative Suite collection, you must activate CS by starting one of the other applications first, and completing the activation process. You don't need the other application to stay open, it is simply forcing you to complete the one-time registration and activation wizard so Acrobat can confirm it's being used as part of a legitimate CS collection.

You cannot use the serial number from a CS collection to install a standalone copy of Acrobat.
