Error opening PDF files

A DVD I'm currently viewing, "Mob Justice", is based on a couple of old magazine articles. One of the special features on the disc is a pdf of these articles. The disc says to

...insert the DVD into the DVD-rom on your comp. Navigate to the root of the disc. Double click on the DVD icon in My Computer. Launch the pdf articles.

I pop the disc in my DVD drive, click on 'explore', see two folders. One Audio, the other Video. The Audio is empty. The Video folder has a number of files, none pdf. However, I do notice a number of file/icons within the video folder with the red adobe logo (presumably the article files). However they have either a .bup or .ino extension.

I attempt to open these files with Adobe Reader 8 and am told it does not recognize the format or extension. Yr help, please.

On DVDs - IFO files are information files, placed by the "burn" package,
that contain content information need to play/navigate the DVD contents.
The BUP files are backup files of the IFO files. Also placed by the "burn" package.

It may be that the PDFs have been wrapped into the content package that the
burn application created. Perhaps playback of the DVD will present a means of navigating to the PDF content that is packaged in the DVD format. From there you ought to be able to view that content.

Playback provides these instructions:

...insert the DVD into the DVD-rom on your comp. Navigate to the root of the disc. Double click on the DVD icon in My Computer. Launch the pdf articles.

Following this route leads to where I began. Double clicking the icon causes the movie to play. Is there no way to unwrap the content package to which you refer? Failing that, is my only recourse to contact the product's (DVD) assemblers?

Hi,

I am guessing that the intent was to provide some kind of user interface at the
start of the DVD playback that would provide the user the ability to perform
navigation/selection of available content.
Something akin to what you see on a DVD with a movie and add-on previews and
"behind the scenes" extras.

Some possiblities present themselves.
The originators(s) burned an "ooops", or
the software being used to play the DVD needs a setting adjustment, or
you need some other player software that can access the "menu".

Regardless, it may be worth contacting the product's customer service for
specific guidance.
