Export PDF to Word format rotates pages

Hi, I have a PDF that was made using HP Digital Sending Device, which I think is a copier that can scan pages into files. The file looks fine in Acrobat V9, but when I export it to Word format, I open the resulting file and all the pages are rotated 90 degrees and stretched to fit the portrait layout. When I try to use page setup in Word, its grayed out so I can't rotate the pages back or really do anything with it.
Rotating the pages in Acrobat to try to "fool" it into rotating it correctly makes no difference in the resulting exported file. Any ideas on how to correct this would be much appreciated. BTW, all the pages in this PDF file are scanned images.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Windows

try this: first apply OCR; then export to word.

The OCR didn't have any effect. I am not sure who/where etc. did the original pdf file.
I was able to fix everything by using Illustrator to open each page and rotate them one at a time and saving the file each time. Once I did that, I did the conversion to Word and the file came out correctly. Time consuming but it worked. Thanks for the help!
