Export specific OCR scanned text from multiple pages

This is my first post. I've been scouring the forums and help to find out if I can do what I'm hoping, but I cannot find specific instructions. So, apologies if this has been covered before, and thank you all in advance for your help!

Here is my situation:

I have a very large document (around 350-400 double-sided pages) - printed.
The fronts of all of the pages are similar to each other (but with different data).
The backs of all of the pages are similar to each other (also with different data).

I plan to scan with OCR the document in batches of 20 pages in my ScanSnap.

There is a number (dollar amount) listed on every second page (the back side).

What I want to do is figure out a way to add up all of the dollar amounts from all of the pages (or really, every other page in the same location on the page).

Does this sound remotely possible? Can I use the Forms feature to do this? Any other suggestions?

Help, please... if there's any way to avoid manual entry/adding with a calculator, it would be a huge time saver! Thanks!!

PS: I am on Acrobat Pro 9.4.6

It could be possible, but it depends on various things:
1. The quality of the scan has to be good so that the OCR would correctly recognize the text.
2. The amounts have to be placed in the same location on all pages.
If those two conditions are met, then it would be possible to create a script that would sum up all of these amounts, and even place form fields above them so that you could edit them more easily.

If you wish, you can send me a sample of some of the pages to my email address (see my sig below), and I'll examine them and will let you know if it's doable or not.
