File sizes are huge with updated version of Adobe Acrobat

I am creating PDFs from AutoCAD 2000i drawings. I had version 5 of Adobe Acrobat before and the file sizes of the PDFs were between 4 and 12 KB. Now I have Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard and when I create the PDF it makes the size jump to around 230 KB for the same drawings. Please let me know what to do. Is there a setting I need to change or is there any way to compress the files? Thanks so much for your help!

You must upgrade to version 8.1 of Acrobat. 8.0 had many bugs, one of which was bloated file sizes when converting to PDF.
