First of two problems

Back in July, I posted (erroneously) a problem on the FAQ board and waited. The problem I was having didn't bother me too much as, at the time, I was not using PDF much. But I did get some responses, to wit:
-----------
Hello James Bigger

You've received a response from 'Tom Hedman' to the topic to which you have

subscribed: 'General Acrobat FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)'

If you agree with the response, be sure to mark the post as a "correct
answer". This will help other community members benefit from your post as
well.

Take me to the response:

This is the only notification you'll receive from us until you visit the
forum again, so please check back again for more new replies.

When I 'clicked' on the website address to see the response, all I 'did' see was my original post and some other postings but nothing that was a response to that post.
So, my first question is: Where are these responses to my original question? If I can find them, perhaps they solved my original question (which is still a problem, by the way - only now more important).
Any direction will be appreciated by this 'novice'.

It looks like response #9 was a response to your question. I would add that you could always open the PDF outside of a browser and you should see all of the things you want.

Well, I read #9 and tried to respond to it but nothing came back. He says "tap on the floating control bar" but when I try to click on that 'fading' set of symbols, nothing happens, it just fades out and comes back. He also says to "press the key to bring up the menu bar" - what key?
I don't know how to open the PDF outside of a browser.
As I said, I'm an 'extreme' novice here for lack of practice with this version.

I should add that all I want from the Reader is to read (and print) PDF documents that may come my way. I don't do any of the extra or advanced functions; I don't generate PDF docs or manipulate incoming PDFs - I just want to read/print them.
Maybe I should be using another PDF reader?

OK, so exactly what version of Reader and what web browser are you using?

The reason for your notification email is because you're subscribed to the entire thread - any posts on that thread will trigger an email, the system has no idea if a new post is replying to yours or not, as you weren't the originator of the thread.

As to your original question, the black floating toolbar is called the heads-up-display (HUD) and is present when the app is in Read Mode. You can turn that off temporarily by clicking the trefoil symbol on the HUD, or permanently by opening Adobe Reader from your programs menu, choosing Edit > Properties, then the Internet entry, and unticking "Display in Read Mode by default".

Well, my original post mentioned that the HUD 'flickers' into existence, remains 2-3 seconds, then fades out. If I move the cursor back to that area, that sequence will repeat. While it is there, clicking on ANY symbol (including the trefoil) does nothing, the HUD continues to fade out (and come back - repeatedly).
There is no 'Properties' under the 'Edit'. There is a 'Properties' under the 'File' but it is grayed out. Perhaps I should mention that on the main 'Adobe Reader X' toolbar, both the 'Save File' and 'Print File' symbols are grayed out.
I have tried every which way I can think of to print a PDF document showing on my browser screen but nothing works. When I had V9, when the PDF doc appeared, the Adobe toolbar popped up; I selected 'Print File' symbol and out it came on my printer. When I allowed the V10(X) upgrade, all that went away.
So far, for me, this upgrade sucks.

That's it?
No further help from the 'User Experts'?
Where do I go to get this elevated into Adobe so I can get an answer?

George Johnson said: "I would add that you could always open the PDF outside of a browser and you should see all of the things you want. "

But when I said I didn't know how to do that, no one offered to tell me how.

Is my level of ignorance on this topic beneath any help here?

And no one directed me to a SPECIFIC source where I could learn how to do that; I don't want to read the whole book to become an 'expert'; I just want to be able to print out a PDF document.

I could do this EASILY in Ver 9 -- now the upgrade to 10 (or X) and I can't.

You can restore the HUD by passing your mouse over the area where the HUD appears.

If Mozilla FireFox 7.01 I am prompted as to what action I want take: Download, Open PDF, View HTML, etc.

You can go to Adobe.com customer service and open a ticket for a price.

You can also try the F1 key for Help.

Many of the changes in the display are a result of the world wide web being browsed on many different devices like the iPad/iPod/iPhone, eReaders, cell phone, etc. You will be seeing many other software products changing their interfaces to accommodate the new products access the INTERNET.

At the amount we are paid for providing services to you and others, we find it hard to put 8 hours in.

What you paid to join this community pays for the services provided by many of the responders.

Think about that cost.

"You can restore the HUD by passing your mouse over the area where the HUD appears."

When the HUD 'flickers' into view, passing the mouse (cursor) over it does -nothing-; clicking on any of the symbols while it is in view does -nothing-; the HUD just fades out and then reappears when the cursor is moved over the area. The sequence is repetitive and unchanging. Flicker in -- 2-3 seconds -- flicker out.

I don't recall any option in FireFox that comes up after the PDF is present on the screen after a download. But I'll go get one and then look for it and let you know what I see.

I don't question the volunteer help, if I could provide answers to others I would.
But if this is a 'new one', I'd just like someone to tell me they haven't ever seen this or heard of it before and I'll move on. Not every problem has a solution out in the field; sometimes you have to go to the source (Adobe).
Every problem has to have a 'first occurence' and if this is the first, then so be it. As I said (many times) this ONLY came up when I upgraded from 9 to 10(X). I saw, looking around, that there have been lots of people with problems with X.

As explained in Help and all versions, the F8 key will restore the Menu bar.

The current PDF properties have always been under File.

Since you chose to use FireFox it will work differently than MS IE. Many of the web browsers are changing their interfaces to accommodate the many mobile devices available and it is hard for us to keep up with every popular browser.
