FRUSTRATED! Acrobat X will not save PDF from website

I cannot save/print/etc. (use the tool/task bar) if a website has embedded Acrobat Reader (pdf) into their website. The gray task bar appears but if I try to use it, the website "stops responding" (freezes). I don't have this problem on my other computer that has an older version of Adobe; it opens all pdfs. I have noticed that I can ONLY save Adobe pdfs if the website has made the document a link and the link itself will open adobe.

My Product Information:
Reader 10.1, Windows

What web browser are you running? Adobe Reader 10 now has a "Reading Mode" and as you mouse over a PDF you should see the option to navigate pages and to the right of that an Acrobat icon to show the full toolbar, click that icon to get out of Reading Mode.

Also, are you able to right-click on the file to choose Download PDF or Save PDF?

In Firefox, click tools > page info > media, and you can see (and download) a list of content embedded in the page. If the PDF is being loaded into the page with scripting, such as PHP, it may not appear here. You may also be able to use the page inspector in Firefox to find the location of the PDF, then write your own scratch web page that links to it, then use save the target of the link without actually viewing the file. That would be the less desirable solution since it's sort of a hassle.

Web browser is internet explorer. The pdf is not in reader mode. When I am on my office computer, I don't have a problem downloading the exact same document from the same website. Both computers have Adobe X.

When the grey icons appear the whole web page freezes if I click on any one of the icons (print/save,etc. it doesn't matter).

I have found two solutions:

1) Oddly enough, I found that if there is a link to show the pdf in full browser window, then the icons work and won't freeze the page. Also, if I revert back to the original view, then the icons work (but only if I open in full browser first). So now I can save the pdf if I open in full browser window. The problem is that not all of the websites have this option.

2) If I use "ctrl+shift+S", then I can save.

Also, I noticed that with some files I when I try to save the pdf, I receive a "file is bad message". But, again, if I go to my office computer, I can save it.

Thanks!
