"Go to Bookmarks" doesn't [???]

[Acrobat Beginner]. This question's so simple I'm flat-out embarrassed to even ask it; whatever....
I've got a 220-page .pdf file downloaded off the net; it's an instruction manual for an app. There are numerous Bookmarks 'built in' to this document, and the tool-tip floating over this panel reads: "Bookmarks: Go to specific points of interest using bookmark links."
My beginner-level question is: Why is it, that when I left-click on one of these bookmarks, that I DO NOT go to the bookmark in question? Even when I right-click on that bookmark & choose "Go to Bookmark" [which by the way does NOT have a little selection-arrow beside it], nothing happens.
Is there some super-simple configuration I'm not seeing? Or maybe this particular .pdf file is defective?
Thanks in advance for your time.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 10.0, Windows

Hi riprap1951,

Hard to say without seeing the file. Is the PDF publicly available? If yes please provide a link.

Hello, Dmitri:
Thanks for the reply! Here's some additional information, probably a clue:
The Bookmarks in the .pdf file in question [userguide for Acronis True Image 2011] DO actively-link to the sections in question when I'm using the file as downloaded from Acronis' site. BUT once I opened this file in Acrobat X Pro & created a few comments & new bookmarks, then it seems like all the original bookmark 'links' were somehow 'broken'. Does this sound familiar to you? Is there a way to 're-connect' the bookmark links, once the file has been edited?
Thanks for your time & attention to detail.

You may want to download the user guide for Acronis True Image 2011 again. I downloaded the file mid December and have opened the file several times with Reader X. The bookmarks work fine for me.
