Gutter setting?

Hi,
I am using Acrobat 8.0 Standard to prep pdf's for publishing into hardbound and softcover books. I need extra margin in the gutter of the book. This would mean that I need extra margin on the right hand side of left hand pages and on the left hand side of right hand pages. Can this be done with Acrobat 8.0?

You would have to make this adjustment in the authoring program and then create the PDF.

Thanks very much. If I may pose a second question. I am mainly dealing with images and not text. Do you know of any image editing program in which I can set a gutter?
