Acrobat Pro X

How do I get to the Adobe Acrobat Pro X Help please?

When I click on the Help menu, I get this message:

Adobe AIR
This installation of this application is damaged. Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance.

---

The same problem occurs with CS5 Design Suite. Elsewhere, I found that others have reported the same issue and someone kindly provided a link to a download of the Help in pdf. Is there something similar for APX?

I've solved the problem albeit indirectly. The link to download the documentation is http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/acrobat_X_pro_help.pdf

Just a pity I can't access help from within the application.

Have you tried repairing your Acrobat installation to see if it corrects the problem?

Here is the link to the Online Help as well:

Thank you, and how do I go about repairing the installation?

Because you error message list AIR as having a problem, you may need to update Adobe AIR.

I've updated AIR today, but no change. Maybe I need to do a re-start, if so I'll do that for tomorrow.

There isn't Repair Acrobat on Help!

I have Acrobat Pro X (upgrade)

It's under the main Help menu in Acrobat X and the command is called Repair Acrobat Installation.

Were I able to see Repair Acrobat anywhere on the menus including Help I should not be posting.
On the Help menu on the main menu the words Repair Acrobat do not appear, they are not grayed out, nothing.

What Mac OS are you running Acrobat X on? Is this a customized installation of Acrobat?

No it's not customised.
It's a upgrade from Acrobat Pro 9 (whose Help menu has the Repair feature)
The Mac OS is OS X, v10.6.5

(I do have a Quite Imposing plug-in on Acrobat 9 Pro but that's not yet been updated/released for X)

As I said, the same problem accessing the on-help Help affects the Design CS5 apps. Apparently it's a known bug which Adobe has not been in any hurry to fix.

I'm wondering if the problem may be related to having both Acrobat 9 and Acrobat X on the same system, which is not a recommended configuration.

You may be right, but I'll live with it until Quite Imposing updates its plug-in.
Presumably once that's available and updated, I simply uninstall AP9Pro and re-start?

It doesn't explain the same problem re the missing Help with Photoshop CS5, Indesign CS5 and the other Design CS5 apps.

My only other suggestion might be to re-install Acrobat X to see if it corrects any of these issues.

I got the same problem after the latest AIR update. It was seriously annoying. I ended up using Revo Uninstaller (you can find it on Download.com) to get rid of every last trace of AIR from my HD and then doing a fresh install of it. Seemed to do the job!

Thanks.

1 Unfortunately, it would seem Revo doesn't work on iMacs but I've already got CleanApp, also AIR comes with its own uninstaller so I've done that too.

2 Re the repair feature on APX Pro I'll wait until I can update Quite Imposing plug-in, then uninstall AP9 and reinstall APX.

I'll let you know what transpires.
