How do i get around the problem that documents which contain helvetica do not display properly under linux even though this is one of the 12 special fonts?

First, the concept of the "Base 14 Fonts" hasn't been valid in Acrobat since version 5.0. They are handled the same way as other fonts, when not present.

Which means that if your documents that do not contain an embedded version of Helvetica are not displaying properly, you may have a damaged installation of Acrobat or Linux.

Also, be sure you are current with your version of Reader.
