I have a couple of magazines that are in PDF format that I use in my studies. I like to highlight, underline and etc., in Adobe Acrobat. Both magazines (Watchtower & Awake) are downloaded at the Jw.org web site. The site is open to the public for anyone to go there and download material for religious studies.
I have no problem with the one magazine. However, with the other, the Awake magazine, the highlighting seems to want to cover parts of two lines instead on one. When I try to underline, the underlining appears way down, almost into the next line ... like you were trying to cross out that line.
I have no idea how to fix this, or if I have accidentally made some adjustment in the program itself. It is very frustrating and again I don't know how to correct this behavior
Can someone please be of assistance here. I would be deeply appreciative

I'm not sure what's going on in the document without having access to it, but I think it's related to how the PDF file was configured. You haven't made any adjustments in your settings, nor can you correct it. You may find if you zoom in that it doesn't appear as bad.
