How do I get hyperlinks to open in new window

I have an Excel document with hyperlinks to various document (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, text). The document converts to PDF fine, but when I click the hyperlinks, the new document opens in the original window (replacing the original document) and I have to manually reopen the original document. I'd like the hyperlinked documents to open in a new or seperate window from the original document. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Windows

This question was addressed in an old post on acrobatusers.com.

I know this doesn't help you now but you can specify links to open in new windows in Acrobat X.

Check your preferences. In the Documents settings, there is an option "Open cross-document links in same window". Uncheck it, and it should work.

Unfortunately, this option is checked in the factory defaults, and whenever I get a new Acrobat / Reader version, unchecking it is among the very first things I have to do.

HTH.

Thank you AnnaLu and maxwyss. Both options worked.
