HOW DO I SET DEFAULT SETTINGS ON 7.0??

I have Adobe Acrobat Standard 7.0. Every time I open the application to scan, I have to manually choose the same stuff all the time; such as choosing my scanner (I only have one), unchecking OCR, then checking B&W, then checking 300dpi in "custom settings."

How do I change the defaults to where I want them???? I Looked everywhere and I don't see any place that allows me to lock in my own default settings.

These setting are usually "sticky" so it would seem that perhaps your preferences are corrupt. Try logging in as Administrator to see if this corrects the problem. Many user specific settings are stored in the registry but you can try re-creating your Preferences to see if it corrects the problem -- as outlined in the following technical note:

Just me nattering here, but...

Acrobat Standard/Professional is not what "drives" the physical scanning activity.
Rather, it is the scanner drivers (TWAIN/ISIS) that perform this function.
The Acrobat application ties into the TWAIN/ISIS driver, as appropriate.
As there is a rather *large* population of scanners available, Adobe has no
practicable way of knowing what you or I happen to have.
Thus, we must bring the intelligence to the task & make the selection
when using Create PDF from Scanner.

As Acrobat is processing the output of the TWAIN/ISIS driver some attributes of the
input file (to Acrobat) will have been established by the driver (not by Acrobat).
So, the user must noodle about with the driver setup interface to see what-is-what
and to tweek as needed.

About Scanner Drivers
The [scanner] includes both TWAIN and ISIS compatible scanner drivers.
These standard drivers allow you to use the [scanner] with just about any application including Adobe Acrobat.

The Scan plug-in calls the TWAIN or WIA driver (windows) and in Acrobat 7 scans directly into memory mode (in Acrobat 8 this behavior can be modified). It is this "tie" (as you mention) that usually remembers that last setting -- also note the "Restore default" button on this menu, which is evidence of the "sticky" setting. Do you not experience this behavior with the Acrobat 7 (or 8) scan dialog as well?
