How to fix up multiple PDFs with maximum page size 45 inches problem

I have thousands of old PDFs that exhibit the following error when I attempt to OCR them.

"This page is larger than the maximum page of 45 inches by 45 inches"

I can fix these documents in two ways.

I can do it one at a time by either PRINTING as a new ADOBE PDF file or I can copy to the clipboard and then create PDF from clipboard. Both create a new document which doesn't have the page size problem and hence can be mass OCR'd. The problem is I need a way to fix these PDFs in bulk so that they can be OCR'd.

Hoping someone can help with this.

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.

Thanks

Maybe you can split this PDF into smaller ones.Adobe Acrobat will works inefficiency to split PDF files. Try to use some special PDF Splitter

I will try my best to help you in PDF converison fields, objectively and Neutral.

Thanks but i am really looking for a solution for making this change in bulk. I have discovered the document processing function and I have discovered I can create a task to print all to PDF. This works sort of but it pops up the save dialog each time. I just want a quick way to batch print into adbode PDF all my current PDFs without user interaction.

suggestion: experiment with batch command 'print all' (under menu advanced > document processing > batch processing)

Perhaps, you could temporarily make Adobe your default printer. Then, select all the documents you want to convert and print them at once with the same settings. Once you have the new PDFs, do OCR on them in bulk. I hope this helps.

This is also known as "refrying" : it's not a good idea in any case.

Since your PDFs are image files, if they are too large it's probably because of their resolution.
So, using an image processor as Photoshop you can batch modify your PDF-image-files resolution to increase it (without re-sampling**).

Using another image processor will probably force you to first export those PDFs to an image format, such as TIFF (because Photoshop can open PDF file).

Then you should be able to OCRize your files (PDF, or TIFF, or…) using Acrobat as usual.

;-)

** Increasing resolution without resampling cause the physical size to be reduced.
